"I was talking to an SWP member the other day who was praising at some length the fund raising abilities of the local mosque and saying that those going down to London for the anti war demo were going to be accomodated by said mosque. he was also going on about the necessity to get local Muslims active in the anti war movement by involving the local islamic organisations. Now I am all for involving Asian and all other communities in the movement against the imminent War but I find the hypocrisy and opportunism of an allegedly Marxist, and presumably aethiest organisation, tailending a collection of fundamentalists of whatever religious pursuasion downright sickening. How many non Muslims want to jump on a bandwagon led by fundamentalist bigots. More grist to the mill of the BNP."

I find this latest antic of the SWP to be their most stupid and bizarre yet. Apparently at Marxism2002 they went to great pains to find similarities between Socialism and Islam. I find all religions to be inherantly reactionary and contraray to the aims of socialism and freedom, so find this a totally absurd situation.
