Re: How to beat the fascists

While this man is right about the ANL, it's a pity he thinks that simply breaking the hold of the SWP on the Socialist Alliance is the key. The lefty archetypes really haven't grasped it, have they?

Nobody is saying that Britain is about to fall to fascism. What the more realistic sections of the left have noticed is that fascism doesn't have to wait for the ruling class to give it licence to run riot with its 'counter revolutionary fighting formations.' Due to the historic defeat of the left, the far right are already becoming the radical alternative to the system in the eyes of precisely the sort of people the left needs. This, if allowed to go unchecked, will have consequences for the future. This bloke might deride the SWP for allegedly regarding our times as 'the 1930s in slow motion,' but he would do well to absorb his own message. His organisation's paper is a case in point - same failed mixture of the lefty version of political correctness mixed with blustering talk of the class struggle, all delivered in the stilted language of the academic Marxist. (Doesn't matter whether or not the writer is actually an academic himself; the disease is contagious.)

Talk of sinking roots in communities and presenting a comprehensive programme is all very well, but not if it's done using the same old methods and language that the 'comrades' in the SA seem genetically programmed to babble - and which belongs more to the 1930s than to the present day. More than mickey mouse Leninism is required to take on the BNP.

What I've noticed about the Trots is that they can't believe that there was anything wrong with the old tried and failed methods. It was entirely predictable that, SWP or not,the SA would look, sound and behave like any one of its component sects writ large(ish.)
