I was amused to read that the fash in Australia got a right 'kick-in'. In this some kind of event like 'sit-in' - or is it a term used exclusively by lefties (the only other time I have seen it used as a noun rather than a verb was in a Socialist Outlook leflet) who simply have misunderstood the working class expression "a right kickin'"?

In the early 1980's everything the working class did or didn't was explained away by references to "macho behaviour".

Fair enough except that within the SWP, otherwise educated middle class elements rountinely pronounced the word as if it contained a 'k'rather than 'h'. Therefore as a militant anti-fascist you would be constantly be condemned for 'acting mac-ko'.

An almost to social and political insularity meant there we never corrected. 'Kick-in' clearly is another example. Fuckin' embarrasing isn't it Oz?
