Anti-semitism and political correctness...
Date: 17th Sept '01
Name: TAL
Picking up on a theme begun by DOD on the TAL Forum and raised again by him on the RA site, TAL has recently fallen foul of the politically correct thought police in Germany and has been accused of 'anti-semitism'.
The reasons given in a 'guest article' in the St Pauli fanzine are that we had the temerity to reproduce an article from Red Action on the Intifada and the Israeli actions against it in the occupied territories. We are also criticised for reproducing an article - reacting to the killing of Palestinian children by the Israelis - by the highly esteemed Irish republican activist and commentator, Danny Morrison. The articles are themselves, it is argued, proof enough of our 'anti- semitism'.
TAL's rightward lurch is further evidenced by our review of the ex-Celtic player Paolo Di Canio's autobiography. It seems that our criticism of Paolo's admiration for Benito Mussolini wasn't sufficiently "hard" enough for the academic lefties who have chosen to attack us - although curiously they criticise us not in the pages of TAL but in the pages of a St Pauli fanzine with a close relationship to us, which begs the obvious question as to who they are actually trying to affect with their political arguments?
All of the articles gave an analysis from a working class viewpoint, something also rejected by our German/Zionist academic friends. The bottome line here is that organisations like RA, AFA, and magazines like TAL will come under increasing criticism now from pro-Zionist elements on the 'radical left' - Searchlight anyone?
Look out for Searchlight to revisit all those old stories about Muslims with fascist connections, playing the fascists game for them.
