The so called "communist" party of Ireland from it's very formation never had all that much that was communist in it in the first place i.e. calling for state as opposed to workers ownership of the means of production. The fact that people calling themselves communists have crushed the first buds of geniune proletarian dictatorship in hungry in 1956 not to mention kronstadht, etc does not mean that communism involves the suppression of working class independence. You obiviously have no understanding of the communist programme-again i reiterate a] no fronts with any faction of capitial, oppostion to "anti-fascism",nationalism and anything else which links the interests of workers to the bourgeoise b] complete working class independence- outside and aganist all bodies seeking to intergrate workers into the structures of capitial i.e. trade unions, parties and campgain groups such as CND,etc c]the abolition of exchange and wage labour, production and distribution according to need and desire d] the use of terror to completely dissolve the old world- i.e. submit Sinn Fein to the destruction of your party, submit IRA to the ceasing of your guns- submit or you will die. That various nationalists from Stalin to Mao to Liam Mellows have wrapt the red flag around them and called themselves communists is a product of several things from the counter-revolution in Russia to the weakness of the native bourgeiouse in the capitialist "fringes"- but none of them have stood for the programme i have tried to encapsulate above. The USSR was one of the most barbaric examples of capitialism and Castro has shown his contempt for all proles in his treatment of our lesbian and gay brothers and sisters in Cuba.James Connoly betrayed his class grievously by putting his name to proclamation and so spitting on all the work he had done for the internationalist position in the second international- the others for the most part were never Marxists to begin with and so they had nothing to betray.Any communist in the IRA of the 1920s was either a traitor or a nationalist in workers clothing.
