'Just no wee liar' aka Julie Waterson has an interesting pedigree incidentally. It appears, prior to joining the SWP and rising with *unprecedented* speed through the ranks she expressed an interest in joining Militant, but while doing so also expressed a soft spot for - Class War!

Whatever her underlying motivation she lacks for nothing in charm. I was present at a rally prior to an AFA march against race attacks in Bethnal Green in about 1991. When the speaker from Red Action (a working class woman as it happens) was introduced, Julie in her delightful Scottish burr, schreeched: "LETS HEAR WHAT SHITE YOUR GOING TO COME OUT WITH!"

Before she could continue, a large gentleman picked her up by the throat and 'carried' her struggling (discounting some particularly feeble interventions from at least two of her male colleagues along the way: 'I say un hand her you cad' kind of thing) to the edge of the crowd. The disturbance alerted a couple of police officers who took in the scene in an instant - and carted Julie off! The funny farm for you my girl I thought, but no - she reappeared shortly afterwards only to buttonhole one of the senior AFA stewards about the "lack of discipline of your members."!
