Well I am rather sceptical of your statement. We are informed that
SF are the party to unite Ireland, yet there exists no cohesive constitutional strategy (nor is one offered)
in order to achieve unity.I would have thought in order to be able to unite Ireland, SF
would need to have a working majority at Leinster House.Due to the multi party nature of 26-county
politics Fianna Fail themselves have not had a majority for at least a decade.Let's face it, 1 Toadee
with the possibilty of another 3 or 4 is not going to rock the boat in the south.
All the SF gains in Fermanagh and Tyrone prove is that there is indeed a Nationalist
majority in those constituencies. Normal politics do not exist in the Six Counties, ethnic
politics are the rule of the day.
People were told if they did not vote yes in 1998 that it was a vote for further
war.Davy Adams of the Fascist UDP stated that if the GFA was not passed then the 6 counties would
see " a new, unforeseen wave of violence".
A reformed union was on the agenda and SF campaigned for it.Criminalisation
was not on the agenda certainly and neither was the Free State joining PfP.But it happened and SF
have no problems with it.This is what occurs when you have a US President assisting you.
Tell me what kind of Socialist Ireland do you foresee? What groups can you see
striving for such? The Stoop Down Low Party? Stoop Further?
Let's not forget that SF ministers are keeping up that sad Irish tradition of
Gombeenism.Once you are bought you remain so.
