Having recently just become a member of Red Action it has taken me just a short
space of time to realise that RA's analysis of the left is correct.
The 'radical' SWP is made up of no more than middle class students with a bit
of a coinsence, social workers and middle class do gooders, who like to shout
a lot,but never actually do anything.SWP members will turn up at marches, the
occasional meeting or social, always selling their papers, but when leaflets have
to be distributed around a housing scheme, not one of them will turn up.This
is not heresay this is my experience. They will use any opportunity to try and
recruit new members, yet those they have never do anything anyway. They claim
to have 500 in Scotland, yet can only muster two or three to meetings and none
at all to leafletings or door to door work.Whilst they dream their dreams the
BNP are going round doors asking people what their problems are,and trying to
solve them. The SWP told me they dont have the numbers(500!) to do this, nor the
funds. They seem to muster the funds to travel to Nice, and any other protest
though.
Finally, when l asked one SWP'er how going to Nice had improved the lives of
any person in a working class area they could not tell me.Sums them up really.
