I quite rightly agree with you about the current situation in Europe. I didn't
say that we were winning, merely that 'democracy' is not a complete waste of
time, we have had some successes. Having one communist MP is better than having
NONE.
The raise of the right-wing parties puzzles me, I think most of them are long established partires that started a new line about immmgration which has found popular appeal, yet there are three major exceptions France Belgium and of course Austria whse right-wing parties stared as recently as the 70's and 80's. On ehting i Will say about right-wing parties that they have abn incredabally successful habit of shooting themselves in the foot and their bubbles are easily burst. Jorg haider's Party got 27% of the vote at the last general election in Austria, I would be surprised if it got 15% at the next, unfortunately it won't us (electorially speaken) who will be the beneficary.
