Although it is agreed that the Hunger Strikers deaths lead to the ballot box it should not be assumed that it also led onto the Good Friday Agreement. They did not die for the people of Ireland to accept a Stormont government in any shape or form - " Years from now they will ask you where you were when your comrades were dying on hunger strike. Shall you say that you were with us, or shall you say that you were conforming to the very system that drove us to our deaths. " PATSY O'HARA. 1981.
